We know hundreds of New Yorkers look forward to this event each year. It’s not just a party, and it’s not just a fundraiser that raises close to a million dollars for local grassroots organizing.

Our annual gala is about building community. It’s about experiencing all the beauty, strength and diversity of New York’s social justice movements. It’s about recharging ourselves for the work ahead.

But we cherish our community so much, it made sense to make this decision now in light of current public health concerns. We are shifting our planning towards online community building over the coming months.

If you were planning to buy a ticket or table, we encourage you to still make a Community Gala gift to support local grassroots organizing in these challenging times.

If you already bought a ticket, the full amount of your ticket is now tax-deductible. You can email Seun@northstarfund.org to get a new tax receipt or to ask any other questions.

The event is canceled but the need is not. You’ll hear from us about ways that you can continue to connect with your social justice community and support our grantees.
