Thanks you to all the folks from all five boroughs and throughout the Hudson Valley who joined us for a special evening celebrating Frederick Douglass Award honorees AfroResistance, NY Teamsters United for a Democratic Union, and Yonkers Sanctuary Movement. Together, we laughed with our longtime friend and emcee, Kerry Coddett. And we clapped and danced to Taiko Masala, DJ Dada Cozmic and the percussionist Danny Conga.
Together, we also raised over $600,000 for New York’s homegrown grassroots movements.
But money is not the only reason we come together. Every year, the North Star Fund team plans the gala not only as a fundraiser, but as a thank you celebration for our grantees. We love seeing hundreds of our Community Funding Committee-supported organizers in the room—some meeting for the first time, some finding old friends, many co-conspiring.
